  1. TrayDay v6.0: by MJM Software

  6. DESCRIPTION:
  7. TrayDay - date, time and counter utility for the Windows 95 or NT 4
  8. tray.
  9.  
  10. TrayDay places an icon showing the date (day of the month) in the 
  11. system tray (the part of the taskbar which includes the clock). The 
  12. icon resembles a page of a "tear-off" calendar.
  13.  
  14. You can therefore see the date at a glance - often quicker and easier 
  15. than resting your mouse over the clock, searching for an "Insert Date" 
  16. menu, or having to reach for your diary. Move the mouse over the icon 
  17. and the day of the week will appear.
  18.  
  19. Left-click the icon and a pop-up menu appears showing the date in
  20. various formats - including up to ten user defined formats. Click one
  21. and it will automatically be inserted into your application (or copied
  22. to the clipboard, depending on the option checked in the right-click
  23. menu). You can select your favorite date format to be available by
  24. double-clicking the TrayDay icon.

  26. The user formats can include the date, time, and counters -
  27. particularly useful for date-stamping messages or files.
  28.  
  29. The right-click menu shows the various items used to configure TrayDay,
  30. and Exit. Selecting Options... brings up a dialog box which lets you
  31. choose different tray icons, define user formats, etc.
  32.  
  33. You can also select from the right-click menu the action to be carried
  34. out when a date is selected on the left-click menu - the current action
  35. is marked with a tick. The three possibilities are: Copy - the date
  36. will be copied to the clipboard. Insert - the text will be inserted at
  37. the insertion point of your active or foreground window by simulating
  38. keyboard input. And Paste - the text will be copied to the clipboard
  39. AND automatically pasted in at the insertion point. [Note that if
  40. Insert is selected but the date includes character(s) which cannot be
  41. typed by a single combination of keystrokes, the Paste action will
  42. occur.]

  44. By placing a shortcut to TrayDay.exe in your startup folder, you can
  45. have the date always available.

  48. "Help...") for detailed instructions. Also see context-sensitive help
  49. in the Options dialog box - click [?] on the title bar, then the area
  50. of the box you require help for.

  58. LIMITATIONS:
  59. Inserting or pasting text to an MS-DOS window is not supported.
  60.  
  61. Inserting or pasting text to a combo-box (edit control with a down
  62. arrow at the right to open a list) may not produce the required result.

  67. TO INSTALL:
  68. Copy TrayDay.exe and this readme.txt to a new folder; for convenience 
  69. you could call this folder "TrayDay". To run, double-click TrayDay.exe.

  71. To set TrayDay to run at startup create a shortcut for it in your
  72. StartUp folder. (Hint: Using the Explorer, right click and drag
  73. TrayDay.exe; drop into the StartUp folder; choose "Create Shortcut
  74. Here" from the popup menu.)

  77. TO UNINSTALL:
  78. TrayDay copies no other files, so to uninstall, simply remove the
  79. folder and files mentioned above.

  82. TO REGISTER:
  83. TrayDay is a shareware program. When first run the welcome box
  84. displays: "Evaluation Version"; after 28 days it automatically becomes
  85. the "Unregistered Version". The only change to the program's function
  86. at that point is that if you run your computer continually, the welcome
  87. box which appears at startup will also appear once a day. If you wish
  88. to continue using TrayText after 28 days, you should register. You can
  89. convert to the Registered Version at any time by entering the
  90. registration number you will be given by mail or e-mail.

  92. Benefits of registering are:
  93. ╖ The 'Shift icon' functions are enabled.
  94. ╖ The welcome box which appears at startup (and daily after 28 days)
  95.   can be turned off.
